The Experience of African-American Students on Predominately White Campuses

by Crystal Guillory
Major: Psychology

When I applied for the grant in the fall, the original project proposal was to conduct a literature review in order to develop a research proposal for examining the experiences and coping styles of African-American students on predominately white campuses. Since then, I have been conducting library research. Through this experience, I have located many journal articles and various books that have given me great insight into the many experiences of other African-American students on a predominately white campus. After researching this topic, I have developed a research proposal that will strive to look at the relationship between African-American students’ racial identity attitude, depression, and school involvement.
