Musicians from several schools in Georgetown will join students from Southwestern for the third annual SU Arts Festival March 27. The festival, which will from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is designed to showcase the finest of the music, theatre and arts on campus and provide activities for all ages.

Georgetown students who will perform at the event include the Ford Elementary School Percussion Ensemble, the Forbes Middle School Orchestra, and soloists from Georgetown High School. Southwestern performers include the university’s new steel drum ensemble, the SU String Quartet, the SU Flute Ensemble, and the Delta Omicron Student Musicale.

“In the past, Delta Omicron has hosted a concert series early in the semester to give middle and high school students the chance to perform their UIL pieces for an audience,” said Natalie Phillips-Perkoff, the musical activities director for Delta Omicron. “This year, we are using the Art Festival for that opportunity.”

Phillips-Perkoff organized this year’s Art Festival along with Delta Omicron President Ashley Foster.

“We are so excited to have the festival again this year,” Phillips-Perkoff said. “I think it will be a huge success and we can’t wait to see all the kids, families and Southwestern students together.”

Along with the musical performances, the festival will include arts and crafts booths, face painting, balloon animals, an instrument petting zoo, cookie decorating and a raffle drawing. These will all be held in the ballrooms on the second floor of McCombs Campus Center.

The arts and crafts booths will be run by several different organizations on campus, including Alpha Xi Delta, Latinos Unidos, Mask and Wig, Zeta Tau Alpha and the Composers’ Collective of SU. Other organizations helping with the festival include SU Radio, SU Magazine and the University Programming Council.

“We are working with many new organizations that haven’t been involved in the festival before, so we are excited about bringing them into the fold,” Phillips-Perkoff said.

The performance schedule includes:

11:30-12:15 Forbes Middle School Orchestra

12:45-1:10 Ford Elementary School Percussion Ensemble
