BØRNS, also known as Garrett Borns, will be the headliner at Southwestern University’s annual Soundwave Concert on April 1, 2016. Doors will open at 6 p.m. at the Corbin J. Robertson Center, and Southwestern invites the public to attend.

BØRNS is a Michigan native who spent time in New York before recently calling Los Angeles home. He became an international sensation after the release of Candy EP in 2014, which put his most recognizable and hit songs “10,000 Emerald Pools” and “Electric Love” on playlists across the world.

BØRNS has also been showcased on many television shows, including Conan and Late Night with Seth Meyers. He has toured internationally and nationally with his most recent local show happening at the Austin City Limits music festival in October 2015. In mid-October of last year, BØRNS released his highly anticipated debut album, Dopamine. He will also be playing at Coachella this April.

Southwestern’s Soundwave Concert is planned by a student committee led by this year’s chair, Riley Caskey.

“He put on an incredible show at ACL, we immediately put him on our radar for an option for our 2016 headliner,” says Caskey. “We wanted to get an artist that went along with the Austin indie-pop vibe, and I think BØRNS really captured what we were going for.”

Tickets for the general public can be purchased online starting on Wednesday, February 17 at https://commerce.cashnet.com/soundwave with discounts available for advance, online ticket purchases.  All tickets purchased on the day of the concert will be $25 – cash only.
