On April 1st, 2015, Southwestern University’s chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the Computer Science Honor society, inducted six new student members: John Daniels, Gabriela Gonzalez, Christine Harbour, Jordan King, Huong Le, and Natalia Rodriguez. The mission of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, founded in 1967, is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the computing sciences. The ceremony was preceded by a guest lecture from Dr. Risto Miikkulainen, professor of Computer Science and Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin. The talk was titled, “Building a Computational Brain,” and focused on his work modelling schizophrenia using Artificial Intelligence techniques.

The ceremony was followed by a celebratory dinner attended by new and current members, as well as faculty and guest Dr. Miikkulainen.
