Sarofim School of Fine Arts’ Music Department is pleased to present Opera Theatre’s production of the “The Hiding Tree.”

“The Hiding Tree” by Edward Barnes is a musical tale, loosely based on a legend from the people of the Ulithi Atoll of Micronesia. A three headed monster has emerged from the sea and has eaten everyone on the island except two little girls. The narrator tells us that the monster is insatiable and seeks to find the last inhabitants of the island. This charming opera is a children’s story that lasts a mere 35 minutes. Also on the program will be a couple of short scenes from “The Marriage of Figaro” just to give a taste of more traditional opera. The whole program will be under an hour and suitable for all ages.
