Southwestern University’s Art & Art History Department Lecture Series

Mr. John Yancey, Professor of Art at the University of Texas at Austin, will present “Dueling Dualisms”, a lecture about his work in art as an artist during some tumultuous times in the nation’s history. 

The lecture will be October 29th from 4-5pm and held in the Caldwell Carvey Foyer in the Sarofim School of Fine Arts building.

John Yancey is a John D. Murchison Regents Professor in Art at the University of Texas. His work focuses in three main areas: paintings and drawings; community-based mural painting; and ceramic tile mosaic public art works. Yancey has also lectured extensively on various aspects of African American art history at the Art Institute of Chicago, The Terra Museum of American Art in Chicago, The Dallas Art Museum, Waterloo Museum of Art, Austin Museum of Art, and numerous other museum venues.
