This page is intended to introduce a few select resources, both on the Web and in the Smith Library Center print collection, that are particularly useful for feminist studies.

INDEXES

Academic Search Complete
A multi-disciplinary, full text database designed specifically for academic institutions Full text or indexing for scholarly journals, with many dating back to 1984. Full-page images, as well as color embedded images are included. Through EBSCOhost.

Alternative Press Index
Indexes journals covering cultural, economic, political & social change. Coverage is international and interdisciplinary. In-depth coverage in the humanities and social sciences. Indexes alternative, radical and left periodicals, newspapers and magazines. Includes selected abstracts from research journals.

ARTstor
The ARTstor image database is a searchable collection of downloadable high quality digital images for education and scholarship. The database documents artistic and historical traditions across many time periods and cultures. ARTstor is designed for researchers, teachers and students. Users can download individual images or use the ARTstor Offline Image Viewer to build a presentation using ARTstor images, arrange and caption the images, and deliver the presentation in the classroom.[ More infomation about using ARTstor.]

The Chicana Studies Index: Twenty Years of Gender Research, 1971-1991
REFERENCE, 1st floor
A useful print index for Chicana Studies.

Contemporary Women's Issues
Provides full text access to global information on women. Includes journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, fact sheets.

JSTOR: Journal Storage Collection Online
An electronic archive of scholarly journals from the humanities, social sciences, and the natural sciences. Each of the 624 titles is an essential or primary one for its field. The JSTOR database is unique because the complete backfiles of core scholarly journals (excluding the most recent five years) have been digitized, starting with the first issues, many of which date back to the 1800s. Users can browse the complete table of contents for every volume and issue, or search for words or phrases in the full text of the article, author and abstracts. JSTOR displays articles in page-image format.

Project MUSE
Provides full image journal articles in the humanities and social sciences, in particular the areas of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, and many others.

Women's Studies Index
REFERENCE, 1st floor
A print index to periodicals useful for women's studies. Holdings include 1989-present.

Women's Studies International
Includes citations from women's studies-related databases, some dating back as far as 1972.


REFERENCE WORKS

In multidisciplinary fields like feminist studies, resources in many different parts of the library's collection will be useful. To find printed reference material relevant to your topic start with the library's online catalog. Do a Reference Materials search using keywords to describe your topic. You can also check the library's web pages for subject guides for specific topics to find other suggested sources.
