both on the Web and in the Smith Library Center print
collection, that are particularly useful for the
study of Theatre.
INDEXES
ARTstor
The ARTstor image database is a searchable collection of downloadable
high quality digital images for education and scholarship.
The database documents artistic and historical traditions
across many time periods and cultures. ARTstor is designed
for researchers, teachers and students. Users can download
individual images or use the ARTstor Offline Image Viewer
to build a presentation using ARTstor images, arrange and
caption the images, and deliver the presentation in the classroom.[

IIPA draws its current content from more than 130

The set contains a total of 607 essays, of which
570 discuss individual dramatists and 60 cover overview
topics (Native American Drama, American Regional
Theatre, Spanish Drama, Chinese Drama, Latin American
Drama, British Medieval Drama, Feminist Theater,
Televison Drama, Musical Drama, etc.) The set also
contains a listing of major dramatic awards, a timeline
of drama history, a glossary, and bibliography.
The Encyclopedia of Musical Theatre

An excellent source for information on worldwide
musical theatre history. Entries for people include
their life dates, place of birth and death (if the
latter is applicable), a short summary of their importance
to the world of musical theater, and a stage- and
production-related biography. Creators and producers
also have a chronology of productions. Entries for
shows contain their type (e.g., musical, operetta),
creators, original theater, date of opening, plot
summary, and pertinent details about the show, especially
as they pertain to non-American productions.

The Costume Site & Costume Source
Great source to consult for those in costume design for the
performing arts. Provides information on nearly all historical
time periods.
Didaskalia: Ancient
Theatre Today
Provides excellent links for all aspects of the study of ancient
theatre. Updated regularly.

Play Service, Inc.
Excellent source for information about availability
price, licensing fees, etc. for plays. Also includes
plot summary, casting data and related
information.
Internet
Broadway Database
A good source of information on Broadway theater.
It includes records of productions from the beginnings
of New York theater until today. Current shows are
listed on the opening screen.
Infomine
Visual and performing arts links.
Inter-Play
This online database contains more than 18,000 entries for plays and may be searched by author and/or title. Created by Portland State University librarians, the source cites the PSU Library of Congress call numbers of sources for the texts of plays. Check Southwestern's Voyager Catalog to see if we have the item. For items we do not own, you may request the material through Interlibrary Loan.
