Preface and Acknowledgments

The Special Collections Department receives frequent inquiries from genealogists and other researchers who want to know if their ancestors or other individuals attended Southwestern University or the schools associated with the university.Other university offices, such as the Registrar, also receive such queries, and there has never been a single, comprehensive source to consult for alumni/ae who attended before 1920, when the Registrar Office started to keep files for each student.

The library is very grateful to Southwestern University student Ashley Schmiedekamp '02, who coordinated, executed, and edited the project. Patrick Burke '00, helped in the early stages of the project, and Cory Williams '01 selected, scanned, and printed the photographs. Sheran Johle, Special Collections Assistant, oversaw printing of the final document.
