This page is intended to introduce a few select resources, both on the Web and in the Smith Library Center print collection, that are particularly useful for the study of Sociology.

Academic Search Complete (via EbscoHost)
An all-purpose academic database covering many disciplines,
including sociology.
SocioINDEX with Full Text (via EbscoHost)
The world's most comprehensive and highest
quality sociology research database. This database also includes full text for
books and monographs, and full text for conference papers.
Annual Review of Sociology, 1975-2002 (via JSTOR)
Comprehensive, authoritative, and critical reviews written
by the world's leading scientists. Library subscribes to the JSTOR database that
includes this journal. Click directly on the journal year and then the specific
issue to retrieve all records indexed for that issue. Current issues
are not available in JSTOR but are located at call number 301.05 An78, 2nd floor of the A. Frank Smith Library.

Population Studies Center, University of Michigan
PSC is one of the oldest population centers in the United States, with a distinguished record in both domestic and international population research. Publications, data archive, research projects, and other population resources are linked to this site.
Research Resources for the Social Sciences
This service is organized into eighteen categories. The categories include general resources, reference materials, data archives, and news resources, and there are also links to sites for the various social science disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, demography, political sciences, economics and women's studies. DOAJ: Directory
of Open Access Journals (in Sociology) - Covers
free, full-text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. Aims to
cover all subjects (including psychology) and includes many foreign language
titles.
IngentaConnect--The
online index covers over 29,000 periodicals. Search by author name, or search
by keywords in the titles of the articles and abstracts. No articles available
online because we are not current subscribers to the service. Nevertheless, its
value is the wide range of periodicals it covers. To determine if the Library
has access electronically to a particular journal, browse the list of online journal titles, or search the Voyager Catalog to determine if
the Library owns a print copy of the journal. If the journal title is not available
in either print or electronic format, you can request a copy of the article
through Interlibrary
Loan.
