Resources
A subject directory of Internet resources tailored
to college and university libraries. The site is
divided into the following sections: Subject Index,
Search Page, Reference Desk, Student Center, and
Comments and Suggestions. The Reference Desk is divided
into two parts: Gateways, which includes links to
guides, search engines, directories, encyclopedias
and almanacs, and Pathfinders, which include links
to language, world, United Sates, health, medicine,
space, publishing, news, people, weather, and money
sites.

to the United States Government
The site is designed as a student gateway to the
Federal goverment. Online information and transactional
services are available 24 hours a day, seven days
a week. You can find information about financial
aid, career development, education planning, consumer
protection, and locate a variety of other information
from virtually every major Federal government agency,
civilian and military.

LINK: Catalogue of Internet Resources
BUBL LINK is a UK subject directory of Internet resources
organized by the Dewey Decimal Classification system.
All items (currently 11,000 resources) are selected,
evaluated, catalogued and described.

Reference Sources
Developed and maintained by the University of California
at Riverside Libraries, INFOMINE is a comprehensive
virtual library and reference tool containing highly
useful Internet/Web resources including databases,
electronic journals and books, bulletin boards, mailing
lists, online library catalogs, and other types of
information. Resources are arranged in eleven broad
topical sections, and a "What's New" page is available
within
each section.
Best
Information on
the Net (BIOTN)
Maintained by librarian Marylaine Block, the site
offers a collection of Internet resources. Of particular
value is her collection of "Hot Paper
Topics," for current event research. "Neat New Stuff I Found
This Week" lists choices for the best new finds on the net. "What's
New on the Net" lists a collection of new site announcement
services.

Information, this is a very useful and rich resource.
The librarians maintain a collection of online ready
reference works, respond to reference questions,
create web resources, evaluate and categorize resources
on the Internet. The major topics are Reference,
Arts & Humanities, Education, Health & Medical Sciences,
and Social Sciences.
Librarians'
Index to the Internet
A searchable, annotated subject directory of more
than 5,000 Internet resources selected and evaluated
by librarians for their usefulness to the library
user's information needs. Entries are arranged by
subject area, and individual entries are alphabetized
within a subject area. The subjects cover a wide
range of topics.
The category "New This Week" offers a listing of the latest
additions to
this site.
LibrarySpot
LibrarySpot.com is a virtual library resource center.
The site was
designed "to bring the best library and reference sites together
with insightful editorial in one
user-friendly spot." LibrarySpot, a commercial site, is the
first
in a family of vertical information portals (see also BookSpot and GovSpot) designed to make finding
the best topical information on the Internet easier. Forbes
selected LibrarySpot as one of the 33 best sites on the Web,
and PC Magazine named it one of the Top 100
Web Sites.
Martindale's
The
Reference Desk
Maintained by James Martindale, this site contains
an extensive index to online references. The site,
which is divided into "information centers," also
links to information on such subjects as the arts,
science, sports, and
technology, among many others.
WWW
Virtual Library
The WWW Virtual Library was started in 1991 by Tim
Berners-Lee. It is staffed entirely by volunteers:
experts, organizations, or other interested people
who take responsibility either to create an entry
for the library or to maintain a topic or subject
area. There are numerous individual subjects ranging
alphabetically from Aboriginal Studies to Zoos.
Yahoo's
Reference
Center
Yahoo!, one of the first subject guides or directories
on the World Wide Web, contains reference tools for
finding information in basic reference tools that
are available on
the Internet.
