Reference

The site is divided into the following sections: Subject Index, Search Page, Reference Desk, Student Center, and Comments and Suggestions. The Reference Desk is divided into two parts: Gateways, which includes links to guides, search engines, directories, encyclopedias and almanacs, and Pathfinders, which include links to language, world, United Sates, health, medicine, space, publishing, news, people, weather, and money sites.

INFOMINE: General Reference Sources
Developed and maintained by the University of California at Riverside Libraries, INFOMINE is a comprehensive virtual library and reference tool containing highly useful Internet/Web resources including databases, electronic journals and books, bulletin boards, mailing lists, online library catalogs, and other types of information. Resources are arranged in eleven broad topical sections, and a "What's New" page is available within each section.

Best Information on the Net (BIOTN)
Maintained by librarian Marylaine Block, the site offers a collection of Internet resources. Of particular value is her collection of "Hot Paper Topics," for current event research. "Neat New Stuff I Found This Week" lists choices for the best new finds on the net. "What's New on the Net" lists a collection of new site announcement services.

Internet Public Library Reference Center
Hosted by the University of Michigan's School of Information, this is a very useful and rich resource. The librarians maintain a collection of online ready reference works, respond to reference questions, create web resources, evaluate and categorize resources on the Internet. The major topics are Reference, Arts & Humanities, Education, Health & Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Librarians' Index to the Internet
A searchable, annotated subject directory of more than 5,000 Internet resources selected and evaluated by librarians for their usefulness to the library user's information needs. Entries are arranged by subject area, and individual entries are alphabetized within a subject area. The subjects cover a wide range of topics. The category "New This Week" offers a listing of the latest additions to this site.

LibrarySpot
LibrarySpot.com is a virtual library resource center. The site was designed "to bring the best library and reference sites together with insightful editorial in one user-friendly spot." LibrarySpot, a commercial site, is the first in a family of vertical information portals (see also BookSpot and GovSpot) designed to make finding the best topical information on the Internet easier. Forbes selected LibrarySpot as one of the 33 best sites on the Web, and PC Magazine named it one of the Top 100 Web Sites.
