Columbia
International Affairs Online (CIAO)
Allows access to research from the world's leading
international relations centers. Includes full-text
of working papers from 92 contributing institutions,
as well as conference proceedings, papers and books,
and abstracts from the leading journals of international
affairs. Includes monthly statistics on American
and international economics and on regional, political,
and country maps. A customized web search is available
which permits the option of limiting searches to
carefully reviewed websites of international organization,
governnmental bodies, research institutions and news

GPO
Monthly Catalog
Consists of records published by the GPO since July
1976. Includes references to congressional committee
reports and hearings, debates, documents from executive
departments, and more.
ICPSR
Direct
University faculty, students, and staff may download
social science research data sets from the ICPSR
(Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social
Research) website. Data includes General Social Survey
data, election data, census data, world and European
values surveys, criminal justice data, substance
abuse/mental health data, education data, aging data,
health/medical care data, and more.
Index
to Legal Periodicals and Books
Provides indexing for over 930 journals, yearbooks,
law reviews, and bar association publications. Covers
all areas of jurisprudence, including court decisions,
legislation, and original scholarship.
JSTOR:
Journal Storage Collection Online
An electronic archive of scholarly journals from
the humanities, social sciences, and the natural
sciences. Each of the 100+ titles is an essential
or primary one for its field. The JSTOR database
is unique because the complete backfiles of core
scholarly journals (excluding the most recent five
years) have been digitized, starting with the first
issues, many of which date back to the 1800s. Users
canbrowse the complete table of contents for every
volume and issue, or search for words or phrases
in the full text of the article, author and abstracts.
JSTOR displays articles in page-image format.
LexisNexis Academic
LexisNexis Academic provides full text and citation access
to information in the reference, business, medical, and legal
disciplines. The vast majority of the titles on LexisNexis
Academic are available in full text. The service covers newspapers,
magazines, wire services, federal and state court opinions,
federal and state statutes, federal regulations, and SEC filings
such as 10-K's, 10-Q's, and their exhibits. News information
is updated daily and wire services several times daily. Research
areas in LexisNexis Academic cover top news, general news
topics, and news transcripts; foreign language news sources;
company, industry, and market news; legal news; company financial
information; general medical and health topics and medical
abstracts; accounting, auditing, and tax information; law
reviews; federal case law; U.S. Code; and state legal research.
SIRS
Researcher
A general reference database exploring social, scientific,
historic, economic, political, and global issues.
Articles are selected from domestic and international
newspapers,magazines, journals and government publications.
All articles are indexed according to Library of
Congress.
Social
Sciences Abstracts
International, English-language periodicals in sociology,
anthropology, geography, economics, political science,
and law. Some full text entries.
World
News Connection
An online news service with an extensive array of
translated and English-language news and information.
Coverage of local media sources and current events
in a specific country or region. Compiled from thousands
of non-U.S. media sources. Covers significant socioeconomic,
political, scientific, technical, and environmental
issues and events. Includes "gray" literature. The
information is obtained from full text and summaries
of newspaper articles, conference proceedings, television
and radio broadcasts, periodicals, and non-classified
technical reports. Updated every government business
day. Generally, new information is available within
48-72 hours from the time of original publication
or broadcast. Note to Mac OSX users: current version
of Internet Explorer will not work with this site;
use Netscape.
Worldwide
Political Science Abstracts
This database is a combination of the merged backfiles
of Political Science Abstracts and ABC POL SCI, and
provides abstracts and indexing of serials in the
area of political science, international relations,
law, and public administration/policy. 1010 titles
are currently included in the database, which includes
backfiles beginning with 1975. It is updated monthly.

as a research facility for scholars of U. S. public
policy. The Library's collection is a specialized
one focused on American politics and history with
special attention paid to the American Presidency.
Annenberg Political Fact Check
The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public
Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Their mission it to be a "non-partisan, nonprofit, "consumer advocate" for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. We monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases."

The University of Michigan's Documents Center is
a central reference and referral point for government
information, whether local, state, federal, foreign
or international. Its web pages are a reference and
instructional tool for government, political science,
statistical data, and news. This multiple award winning
site has been described as the first Internet stop
for political science searches.
Elections

Detailed analysis of worldwide recent elections. Includes basic background information about various country's elections and politicians. This site is now hosted by Wikipedia; users should consult scholarly tools to corroborate information found here.

Public opinion data on 21 topics, ranging from abortion

Divided in two sections, one sets out the facts and
policy alternatives while the other presents a detailed
profile of public thinking about the issue. The site
is mangaged by Public Agenda, a nonprofit, nonpartisan
organization founded by former Secretary of State
Cyrus Vance and social scientist Daniel Yankelovich.
Reviewed as "a good starting point for students who
want to understand how the public weighs in on key
issues" (C&RL News, Sept. 2002, p. 596).
