Online (CIAO)
Allows access to research from the world's leading
international relations centers. Includes full-text
of working papers from 92 contributing institutions,
as well as conference proceedings, papers and books,
and abstracts from the leading journals of international
affairs. Includes monthly statistics on American
and international economics and on regional, political,
and country maps. A customized web search is available
which permits the option of limiting searches to
carefully reviewed websites of international organization,
governnmental bodies, research institutions and news

Researcher
A general reference database exploring social, scientific,
historic, economic, political, and global issues.
Articles are selected from domestic and international
newspapers, magazines, journals and government publications.

World
News Connection
An online news service with an extensive array of
translated and English-language news and information.
Coverage of local media sources and current events
in a specific country or region. Compiled from thousands
of non-U.S. media sources. Covers significant socioeconomic,
political, scientific, technical, and environmental
issues and events. Includes "gray" literature. The
information is obtained from full text and summaries
of newspaper articles, conference proceedings, television
and radio broadcasts, periodicals, and non-classified
technical reports. Updated every government business
day. Generally, new information is available within
48-72 hours from the time of original publication
or broadcast. For Southwestern community only. Note to Mac
OSX users: current version of Internet Explorer will
not work with this site; use Netscape.

WORKS
In interdisciplinary fields such as
International Studies, resources in
many different subject areas will be
useful. To find printed reference material
relevant to your topic start with the
library's online
catalog. Do a Reference Materials search using keywords
to describe your topic. You can also check the library's
Web pages for subject guides for specific topics such as
History, Political Science, Economics, etc. to find other
suggested sources.

of the world. Includes intergovernmental organizations,

Constitution,
Treaties, and Declarations
Links to international documents, and also to documents
in countries world-wide. Some are in the native language.
Governments
on the World Wide Web
Comprehensive database of governmental institutions
on the WWWW. Includes parliaments, ministries, offices,
law courts, embassies, city councils, public broadcasting
corporations, central banks, multi-national organisations
etc. Includes also political parties. Online since
June 1995. Contains more than 13000 entries from
220 countries and territories as of July 1999. Frequently
updated.
International
Database
A computerized data bank containing statistical tables
of demographic, and socio-economic data for 227 countries
and areas of the world.
ISN
LASE
A high-quality index of Internet resources, built
for professional users in the field of international
relations and security. Index quality is assured
by limiting the search to websites of international
organizations, governmental bodies, as well as recognized
research institutions/think tanks, NGOs, and scholarly
journals dealing with foreign affairs and security
policy.
The
Library of
Congress Country Studies
Prepared by the Federal Research Division of the
Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area
Handbook Program sponsored by the Dept. of the Army.
This online series presently contains studies of
100 countries. Most books in the series deal with
a particular foreign country, describing and analyzing
its political, economic, social, and national security
systems and institutions, and examining the inter-
relationships of those systems and the ways they
are shaped by cultural
factors.
Political
Database of the
Americas
A comprehensive source of documentary and statistical
political information on Latin America. Maintained
by the Center for Latin American Studies at Georgetown
University in collaboration with the Organization
of American States. This site has become one of the
standard sources for Latin
American political information.
Stratfor.com
An Internet news service providing news from around
the world, as well as analyses of that news. "As
a result of Stratfor.com's background as a private
intelligence company engaged in open-source information
monitoring the company probes beyond the surface
and explores more than the facts, but what the
facts mean."
The
WWW Virtual Library: International
Affairs Resources
A one-stop shopping site for International Affairs.
Presents over 1100 annotated links in a range of
international affairs topics. Sites were chosen because
of long-term value. They are gateway sites, have
internal search engines, or are content-rich. Almost
all of them compile links to
other related sites.
