print collection, that are particularly
useful for the study of classics.

Academic
Search Complete
A multi-disciplinary, full text database designed specifically
for academic institutions that includes full text for over
2,940 scholarly publications abstracts and indexing for nearly
3,930 scholarly journals with many dating back to 1984. Full-page
images, as well as color embedded images are included. Through
EBSCOhost.

Philologique
The most comprehensive index to scholarly work in Classical
Studies. The web version currently covers publications from
1959 onwards. (One important thing to remember--Search ancient
author's names in their Latin forms: "v" appears as "u" unless
the name starts with the letter V.)

Abstracts
Covers over 400 key international English-language
arts publications. Includes periodicals, yearbooks,
museum bulletins, competition and award notices,
exhibition listings, interviews, film reviews, and
more. Indexing: 1984-present. Abstracts: 1994-present.
Updated monthly.
Arts & Humanities
Search
A citation index for leading journals worldwide in
the arts and humanities, with selected articles from
social
science and science journals. 1980-present.
ARTstor
The ARTstor image database is a searchable collection of downloadable
high quality digital images for education and scholarship. The
database documents artistic and historical traditions across
many time periods and cultures. ARTstor is designed for researchers,
teachers and students. Users can download individual images
or use the ARTstor Offline Image Viewer to build a presentation
using ARTstor images, arrange and caption the images, and deliver
the presentation in the classroom.[ More

ATLA
Religion Database with ATLASerials
The full text version of the ATLA Religion Database.
This database is a collection of major religion and
theology journals selected by some of the major religion
scholars in the United States. Journals representing
all major faiths, major denominations, and language
groups are included. Information dates as far back
as 1949, and coverage continues thru the present.
The
Grove Dictionary of Art Online
Contains 45,000 articles on every aspect of the visual
arts, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, architecture,
decorative arts and photography, from prehistory
to the present day. Compiled over a period of 15
years, it represents the work of more than 6,800
scholars from around the world, each writing on his
or her own field of study. From the dictionary's "welcome" page,
click "Enter Site."

Periodicals in archaeology, art,
classics, film, folklore, journalism,
linguistics, music, the performing
arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and

literature. Includes some full text.
Humanities
International Index
A collection of bibliographic
references to literary, scholarly
and creative journals published
in the
United States and Canada. Covers over 700 journals
published from 1975 to the present. All journals
included here are indexed in their entirety (cover
to cover). This database provides citation information
for articles, essays and reviews, as well as original
creative works including poems and fiction. Photographs,
paintings and illustrations are also referenced.

Gateway to the Middle Ages and
Renaissance
A growing online service that provides citations
for published materials pertaining to the Middle
Ages and Renaissance (400-1700) through online bibliographic
databases. Databases include "Journals" (citations
for articles, bibliographies, catalogues, abstracts,
and discographies from the full runs of 518 scholarly
journal titles published since 1853), "Books," "Reviews," "Iter
Italicum," "Scholars of Early Modern Studies," "International
Directory of Renaissance and Reformation Associations
and
Institutions," and "Baptisteria Sacra: An Iconographic Index
of Baptismal
Fonts."

Includes information on literary figures from all time periods writing in such genres as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism, and more. Databases included are: Encyclopedia of Literature and Gale Literary Index.. Includes some full-text journals.

Reference Online - Premium Collection
Oxford Reference Online contains subject reference
works, bilingual dictionaries (French, German, Italian & Spanish),
English dictionaries, quotations and proverbs published
by Oxford University Press. Some titles in this collection
include: The Oxford Companion to British History,
The Oxford Companion to the Bible, The Oxford Companion
to Music, The Oxford Companion to Shakespeare, The
Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. A complete list
of the resources in this collection is available
online. An ideal starting point for just about any
research question.
Perseus
Digital Library
An evolving digital library of full-text resources
for the study of the ancient world and beyond. Includes
books, papers, images, and maps from the archaic
and classic Greek world, ancient Rome, and the Renaissance.
Also included are Latin texts and tools, ancient
science materials, Greek lexicography, art and archeology
texts,
and works of Christopher Marlowe and Shakespeare.
The
Philosopher's Index
The Philosopher's Index provides indexing and abstracts
from books and journals of philosophy and related
fields, beginning in 1940. It covers the areas of
ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, political
philosophy, epistemology, and metaphysics logic as
well as material on the philosophy of law, religion,
science, history, education, and language.
Project
MUSE
Provides full image journal articles in the humanities
and social sciences, in particular the areas of literature
and criticism, history, the visual and performing
arts, cultural studies, education, political science,
gender studies, and many others. Includes full text
for American Journal of Philology and Arethusa.
WorldCat
Access to listings of the holdings of library collections
worldwide including Smith Library Center.

subject areas will be useful. To find
printed reference material relevant
to your topic start with the library's online
catalog. Do a Reference Materials
search using keywords to describe your
