HOLDS, RECALLS & MISSING BOOKS

Holds and recalls

When an item you want is checked out, you may place a Hold on it so that the item is held for you when it is returned. You can place a Hold yourself through the online catalog or request that a Hold be placed at the Circulation desk. If an item you need is not due back until the end of the academic year please check with staff at the Circulation desk. We will try to get the item returned for you.

Titles that are needed immediately for Reserve or for other designated reasons may be recalled. If an item is recalled, the due date on the recall notice replaces the original due date. The fine for overdue recalled items is $1.00 per day.

Missing books

Please request assistance at the Circulation desk if the title you want is missing from the shelf. We will search for the missing book and notify you when it has been found.

FINES

Fine rates are assessed per item. There is a $20 maximum fine per overdue reserve item. The maximum fine for other items is $15. It is your responsibility as a borrower to know when your items are due. The library is not responsible for notifying borrowers that items are overdue, although notices are sent as a courtesy.
2 hour, 4 hour, and Overnight reserve materials $ .50/hour, or fraction of an hour
3 or 1 day materials $1.00/day
7 day materials $0.50/day
Recalls $1.00/day
All other items $0.25/day

LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS

Charges for lost items include the maximum overdue fine, a $5.00 processing fee, plus the replacement cost of the item. If the replacement cost cannot be determined, a default replacement cost of $35.00 is assessed.

Charges for damaged materials are assessed per the condition of each item. Depending on the extent of the damage, charges can range from a minimum $5.00 repair fee to the replacement cost for the item.

RESERVE

Faculty may place articles, books, and other supplementary materials for classes on Reserve. The Reserve collection is housed at the Circulation desk. Please complete a Reserve Request form for each course in which you are placing items on Reserve. You may access the form here:

Copies of the forms are also available at the Circulation Desk or call x1563 to request that copies be sent through campus mail. Please submit your Reserve requests for the semester as early as possible.

Photocopied items requiring copyright permission for placement on Reserve in the Fall semester should be submitted by August 15. Spring semester items requiring copyright permission should be submitted by December 15.
