Finding Book Reviews
INDEXES
TO BOOK REVIEWS
Book review indexes help locate book
reviews. To use indexes, find the copyright
date of the book you want a review
for, then pull the index volume for
that year or the year after and look
under the author's name. The index
will give you citations to book reviews
that have appeared in magazines, journals
and newspapers.
Once you have located the reviews, you must determine
whether or not the library owns a copy of the journal,
magazine or newspaper in which the review appears.
If you used an index such as Book Review Digest (in
print or electronic), you can look up the name of
the journal in the library
online catalog.

book review by title. Reviews will be found on microfilm

pieces published in the print edition, with
an archive that goes back to 1996.

required.
An index to five national newspapers: The Christian

online periodical databases. If you
are looking for reviews of recently
published books try Articlefirst or Academic
Search Complete as they add new
records daily/weekly.
The library has electronic indexes
in specific subject areas that point
to book reviews in scholarly and general
magazines. Generally a search for a
book review involves limiting to the
document type "book reviews " or "reviews."
