The ARTstor image database
is a searchable collection of downloadable high-quality digital
images for education and scholarship. The database documents
artistic and historical traditions across many time periods
and cultures.
ARTstor
is designed for researchers, teachers and students.
Users
can download individual images or use the ARTstor Offline
Image Viewer to build a presentation using ARTstor images,
arrange and caption the images, and deliver the presentation
in the classroom. Note: if you want to click
on a thumbnail image in ARTstor to view it, you must disable
your computer's pop-up blocker.

Use ARTstor
Using ARTstor in the classroom at Southwestern:
If
you plan to use ARTstor to create and deliver classroom presentations,
you will need to ask ITS to install the ARTstor Offline Image
Viewer (OIV) software on the classroom workstation.
Call
the ITS Help Desk at x7333, and please give them at least
10 working days' notice before you plan to make the presentation.
In order to organize your images prior to a class presentation
that will use the OIV, you will need the OIV installed on
your office or home computer as well, and that installation
does not require ITS assistance--you can download the software
from the ARTstor web site yourself onto your own machine.
In other words, you will only need ITS assistance when working
with ARTstor on Southwestern University classroom computers.
