Every year, some of Southwestern’s most generous individuals, foundations, and other organizations propose challenge grant awards.
These donors pledge to gift a specific amount of money if Southwestern University is able to raise a specified amount of money from other, additional sources. Challenge grants may be designated for use in building Southwestern’s endowment, funding special projects or scholarships, or for use in meeting more immediate goals of The Southwestern Fund. These grants can be highly effective in motivating increased giving by fellow donors, building both institutional capacity and sustained giving enthusiasm.
