Engaging Minds, Transforming Lives

Greetings, Southwestern Parents.

Welcome to the fall semester at Southwestern!  Your family has joined a remarkable community—one that promotes a passion for intellectual and personal growth—including academics, athletics, the arts, civic engagement and social activities. Being a Pirate parent is just the beginning of a relationship that will last a lifetime. We are all very blessed to share in the richness of the Southwestern Experience.

Last year was our inaugural year as chairpersons of Southwestern’s Parent Leadership Gift Council (PLGC), and our eagerness to engage with other parents in helping further the vision of the University paid off. Twenty-three families joined the PLGC in its inaugural year and together with other current Southwestern parents, we raised $708,246.43 for the University.

Please consider joining us again this year by supporting Southwestern with your time, talents and financial gifts. We look forward to applauding returning parents and welcoming new ones into the PLGC, and to engaging with all of you at future meetings. Some of the benefits of participation include learning about the latest University events from faculty, staff and students, and hearing directly from Southwestern’s illustrious President, Edward Burger. Yes, this is a BIG PERK!

Please save the dates:  Spring Family Weekend, March 27-28; and 2015 Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, October 16-18, when we will host our annual fall PLGC meeting.

Be on the lookout for updates and news to come from Haynes and me. We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Best Regards,
