Last Year's Impact

At the close of the first year of leadership under Southwestern University’s 15th President, Edward Burger, the University has achieved extraordinary fundraising success:

Fiscal Year 2013-14

Includes gifts and commitments received July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014

In virtually every fundraising benchmark, significant increases over prior years were achieved this fiscal year. We thank all of Southwestern’s donors and friends for making these instrumental gains possible:

  • Alumni donors increased from 2,179 last year to 2,492 this year (22 percent participation, which is an increase from last year’s 20 percent participation)
  • Current parent donors increased from 405 last year to 755 this year (26 percent participation, which is an increase from last year’s 15 percent participation)
  • Seventy-eight percent of the Senior Class made a gift as an expression of their appreciation for their Southwestern Experience
  • $1.64 million received to The Southwestern Fund (goal of $1.6 million was exceeded)
  • $15.8 million of gifts and new Estate pledges were secured during the year:
