Policies

To All Faculty, Staff, and Students:

Southwestern University requires all faculty, staff, and students to observe the highest business and ethical standards and to comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and practices in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities. Guidance for this requirement is provided in the University’s Ethics, Personal Conduct, and Business Conduct Statement; the University’s various policies and procedures; and Southwestern’s long-standing commitment to honesty, integrity and excellence in everything we do.

These policies include sexual misconduct and verbal, physical, and sexually abusive acts.

In an effort to provide a confidential method for any member of the University community to report suspected improprieties related to illegal, dishonest, or unethical conduct and standards, including without limitation those relating to financial, accounting, and auditing related issues and including those relating to sexual misconduct and abusive acts, the University has implemented the confidential Campus Conduct Hotline©. This is in addition to our various policies and guidelines prohibiting all forms of unlawful harassment.

You may reach the Confidential Hotline at the following toll-free number: 1-866-943-5787. This Confidential Hotline is available to faculty, staff, and students 24 hours a day and 7 days a week; and experienced, trained counselors are available to take the calls.

Being true to one's self and others is one of Southwestern's Core Values.

I urge you to review these policies and statements and to take advantage of the Confidential Hotline. If you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts or concerns directly with the Human Resources staff or with me, I can assure you that the Whistleblower Policy will be followed, and your report will be handled on a confidential basis.

If you have any questions about these policies, you may contact Elma Benavides, Jim Hunt, Richard Anderson, Jerry Brody, Jaime Woody, or me.
