Southwestern Foundation

Mission and Purpose

To Support Southwestern University. The purposes for which Southwestern Foundation is organized and operated are to maintain real or personal property, or both, and to use and apply the income therefrom and the prinicipal thereof exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary, and educational purposes, and in accomplishment of such purposes, the Foundation is administered solely for the benefit and support of Southwestern University. The Foundation is expected to provide financial assistance to the University to the extent that the Foundation is able to do so. The Articles of Incorporation do not expressly empower the Foundation to support or benefit any organization other than the University.

Southwestern Foundation is a “supporting organization” of Southwestern University within the meaning of Section 509(a)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The University is located in Georgetown, Texas and is other than a “private foundation” within the meaning of the section 509(a) as a result of being described in section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii). The University selects all members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The Foundation’s trustees and officers are not compensated.
