Grants
Grants are gift aid based on demonstrated need and can be funded from federal, state and/or institutional sources. Types of grants include:
Federal Pell Grant - Awarded to exceptionally needy students, as determined by the results of the FAFSA. In 2006-2007, awards range from $400 to $4,050. Funded by the Federal Government.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - Awarded to exceptionally needy students, as a supplement to the Federal Pell Grant. Actual award depends on level of funding that Southwestern University receives from the Federal Government.
Texas Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG) - Awarded to Texas residents demonstrating need. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA.
Leveraging Educational Assistance Program (LEAP) - Awarded to Texas residents demonstrating need, as a supplement to the TEG. Actual award depends on level of funding that Southwestern University receives from the State of Texas.
Supplemental Leveraging Educational Assistance Program (SLEAP) - Awarded to Texas residents demonstrating need, as a supplement to the TEG. Actual award depends on level of funding that Southwestern University receives from the State of Texas.
SU Scholarship (need-based) - Awarded by Southwestern University to students demonstrating need. Award amounts vary. Funding made possible by generous gifts from alumni and friends of Southwestern University.
