Dixon Scholarship $4,000,000
The Texas Methodist Foundation administers a scholarship program to benefit African-American, Hispanic and Native American students who choose to attend Southwestern University. A diverse student body improves educational outcomes for all students by bringing varied perspectives to class discussions, campus activities, and leadership and service projects. These scholarships are given in honor of a leading advocate of higher education--the late United Methodist Bishop Ernest T. Dixon, Jr.
Diversity Enrichment Initiatives $2,000,000
The finest educational environment for students is one that accurately reflects society. Southwestern is focused on the recruitment and retention of a diverse body of students, faculty and staff, and on programs that foster an inclusive and balanced community. Southwestern is a member of associations such as the Hispanic Association for Colleges
and Universities and has ongoing partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities to promote student and faculty exchanges.
