THANK YOU!
Southwestern would like to thank all of our donors whose significant contributions enhanced our community of students, faculty and staff during the 2005-06 fiscal year. Your support allows Southwestern to attract and retain the most qualified students while minimizing their debt thus continuing our tradition of providing a value education.
Over this past year, Southwestern received donations of $1,000 or more from 402 individuals and foundations, a record for President's Council membership. Of the $9.7 million raised this year, nearly 90% of that support is from our President's Council members. Gifts to the Annual Fund totaled more than $1.4 million, a large percentage of which supports student scholarship.
Nineteen new endowments were established to support students in accounting, the humanities, theatre, chemistry, the natural and physical sciences, education, computer science and history. In addition to supporting students studying in these departments, new endowments were also created to provide additional support for merit based aid, textbook purchases, graduate school education, the Paideia® program, students from Bexar County and the Brown Scholars program.
Your contributions have created tremendous momentum for Thinking Ahead: The Southwestern Campaign!
YOUNG ALUMNI CHALLENGE
In response to a 4 to 1 matching gift challenge from an anonymous alumni couple, Southwestern alumni from the classes of 2000-2005 raised participation nearly 2% points during the final six weeks of the fiscal year! Alumni from these classes made 169 gifts totaling $6,331.18, taking full advantage of the $25,000 challenge offered by the alumni couple. Thank you!
