    Senior Spanish major Jacob Brown presented a paper based on his honors thesis titled, “Modelos masculinos:  La cultura norteamericana y las representaciones de la masculinidad hegemónica en Amado amo (1988) de Rosa Montero” at the 20th Annual Carolina Conference on Romance Literatures at UNC Chapel Hill.

    Wondering what a course is really about?  In an effort to provide students, parents, advisers, and everyone else a sense of what different courses entail, Southwestern has started making course trailers. The Spanish department piloted the program, having Ted Jobe, Assistant Director of the Language Learning Center, create the first trailer for Conversation Through Hispanic Cinema.

    Senior Katie Elder, majoring in Spanish and Education, secured a $1,000 scholarship from the Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators awarded annually to a pre-service teacher.  Katie will receive her award at the annual TASPA conference in Austin in December.
