Special Opportunities: Conductors’ Institute of Southwestern University

The 2012 Institute will feature one of the world’s great chamber works, the Dvorak Serenade in D minor, Op. 44. An ensemble of professional players will rehearse and perform this great music as Lois Ferrari and Peter Bay lead master classes in conducting.

June 21 – 23, 2012

Eight participants will be accepted. An unlimited number of observers will also be accepted. Participants and observers must all arrive with a full original score in hand. No photocopies will be allowed.

During the three-day workshop, each participant will conduct a portion of the Serenade and receive feedback from Mr. Bay and Dr. Ferrari. Participants and observers will also take part in sessions focused on score preparation and rehearsal strategy.

On the evening of June 23rd, participants will lead the ensemble in two informal performances of the Serenade in the Alma Thomas Theater.
