The 2013 Institute will feature G.F. Handel’s great oratorio, Messiah. The Institute Chorus will be present each evening to be rehearsed by Institute participants. The Institute Orchestra will be present for the last three evenings, culminating in an informal performance conducted by the participants. Kenny Sheppard and Mr. Brad Bouley will lead master classes in conducting and score study.

All participants must arrive with a full score in hand, Novello edition. No photocopies will be allowed.

During the five-day workshop, each participant will conduct a portion of Messiah and receive feedback from Mr. Bouley and Dr. Sheppard. Mr. Bouley will lead a general conducting technique lab each day. Dr. Sheppard will lead sessions on preparing Messiah for rehearsals and performance.
