Majoring & Minoring: Concentrations: Literature

The Music Literature concentration is intended as preparation for students who wish to go on to graduate study in musicology. SU offers courses in the history and literature of music of the West, from the Medieval period to the present. Courses are also offered in world music, music in the United States, and keyboard and vocal literature, as well as special topics.

Additional course requirements

25 semester hours, including Music Literature 80-403, 413, 423, 433, 953; three additional hours in Music Literature 80-xx3; two additional hours of Ensemble; five additional hours of Music courses. The Capstone experience is fulfilled in one of the following ways: a recital, a public lecture, or another project approved in advance by the Music Department.
