Dick Austing Richard (Dick) Austing is retired from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Austing worked tirelessly as co-editor of several ACM Curriculum reports, including Curriculum '78, Recommendations for Master's Level Programs in Computer Science, Model Curriculum for Doctoral-Level Programs in Health Computing, Curriculum for Community and Junior Colleges and Computing Curricula 2001 Computer Science. Dr. Austing served many years as registrar for the SIGCSE Technical Symposia and ITiCSE conferences.

Dr. Austing was inducted as an ACM Fellow in 1994, the first year of the program, with the citation "For extensive guidance of ACM's influence on computer and information systems curricula at many levels." In 1997, Dr. Austing received the first SIGCSE Award for Lifetime Service, with the citation "Editor on several curriculum recommendation documents in almost every area of computer science, including Curriculum '78, 2-year Task Force Report. Service as registrar for many SIGCSE conferences both before and after computerized registration. SIGCSE Technical Symposium chair. Founding ACM Fellow."
