CEOHP Facebook page and YouTube Channel

It is an interesting challenge to follow the trends and determine the tools that can best serve CEOHP. We have been building up a CEOHP Channel on YouTube for some time now, to include the videos we have developed to accompany the audio interviews. We have also added CEOHP's Facebook page to help us share information about the Computing Educators Oral History Project and other relevant projects.

Improved validation procedures for the CEOHP site

We have started using the validation tool Total Validator to check the CEOHP site for compliance with the W3C standards and accessibility standards. This tool checks links as well as spelling and produces results for a full tree of webpages and different browsers. We have added a validation overview webpage to summarize our approach and any outstanding issues.

Expanded section with practice interviews

The section with practice interviews has been expanded to include two additional interviews, one with Barbara Boucher Owens and one with Mary Last.

Spring 2011
Educational materials added to CEOHP site

A on-going goal for CEOHP is to make the collection of interviews a useful tool for pre-college and post-secondary teachers and students. In collaboration with two pre-college teachers, Sarah Barras and Deepa Muralidhar, we have built a foundation for the section with materials and teaching tools. Once we complete the next upgrade in May 2011, we will request that the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) add information about the materials to their teaching repository. This will provide another route educators and students can use in discovering the CEOHP collection.

November 2010
Archival partnership established with Charles Babbage Institute

As part of an on-site visit to the Charles Babbage Institute (CBI) at the University of Minnesota, Barbara Boucher Owens and Vicki Almstrum met with CBI Director Tom Misa, Associate Director Jeff Yost, and Archivist Stephanie Crowe to discuss the possibility of adding interviews from CEOHP to the CBI archives. We concluded that this is an appropriate partnership, so during 2011 CEOHP and CBI will work together to transfer the completed CEOHP interviews to CBI for archival. Thereafter, we will establish procedures to make archival at CBI a straightforward step in the process of preparing an interview for the CEOHP collection.
