Leadership Transition in Cuba |
|
What will Cuba be like after Fidel Castro? |
Eric Selbin, University Scholar and Professor of Political Science at Southwestern, can answer a variety of questions related to the leadership transition in Cuba. These include: |
- What is Castro's legacy?
- Who is likely to succeed him?
- What changes are likely for the country under a new leader?
- What does Castro's departure mean for U.S.-Cuba relations?
|
"Castro managed to take a small country and make it a world player in any number of ways",Selbin says. "He is an icon. His resignation will probably mean relatively little at the moment, but it begins the transition process one which the United States is frankly ill-prepared and ill-equipped for." |
Professor Selbin is the author of Modern Latin American Revolutions and is currently completing three book manuscripts: Resistance, Rebellion, and Revolution: The Power of Story; Understanding Revolutions with John Foran and Jack Goldstone; and Decentering International Relations with Meghana Nayak. He co-edits a book series called New Millennium Books in International Studies for Rowman & Littlefield and is currently creating a new series for them on Latin American Politics. |
