The career planning process begins with exploration:  learning about oneself, opportunities in the world of work and the process of making decisions.

Explore internally (self-assessment)

Explore externally (researching occupations)

Make a better career decision

Who are you right now?  What are your work-related and personal values?  What are your skills?  Abilities?  Interests?  And how do these influence your career and job-related goals and choices?

Figuring out the answers to these questions takes time.  Career Services encourages students to begin as early as their first year to begin thinking about life beyond college.  Through individual advising and programs, students can assess themselves and research occupations (through books in the Resource Center, online and in programs featuring alumni and other presenters talking about their work).
