Working abroad is not a kind of job (i.e. field/industry), but rather a job location.  Job seekers must still offer a skill set to an employer (e.g. marketing skills, technical skills, etc.).  Teaching English abroad is often a good option for an American college graduate, since native English speaking skills are in high demand around the world, especially in Eastern Europe and Asia.  Working abroad during the year immediately after graduation is also a good option.  Work authorization programs allow recent college graduates the freedom to pursue a wide variety of occupations.

Work Authorization Programs

During the year after graduation, alumni are eligible to obtain work authorization to do any job they can get.  These programs provide authorization and helpful relocation and job search resources for a fee.  These programs are typically one of the easiest ways for US graduates to get jobs abroad.  Positions can range from “casual” (e.g. waiting tables in a pub) to career track.  Numerous SU graduates go abroad on these programs each year and have worked in museums, banks, scientific research centers, bookstores, offices, pubs and more.

BUNAC - Offers US students and recent college graduates (up to 6 months after graduation) work/travel programs to Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, as well as volunteer opportunities in other countries.
InterExchange Work Abroad Program:  F rom au pair and short-term work placements in Spain and France, to teaching English and career-based internships in exciting destinations such as Bulgaria, Belgium and London, experience life working overseas.
