Deadline Task
October 1 First day to complete FAFSA, at Our School Code is 003620.
February Watch your email or mailbox for your Student Aid Report (which is generated after you complete the FAFSA). When it comes, review it, and report any changes. New Students can expect to receive a Financial Aid Award Notification Letter from Southwestern on or after March 1.
March 1 Priority Deadline for receipt of FAFSA by the Financial Aid Office. You may use estimated tax figures to meet this deadline.

If you’re a new student and your FAFSA was submitted on time, by now you will have received either your Award Notification Letter, or our request for additional information. Respond promptly to retain priority access to funding.

Important Information for Continuing Students and Parents: Please note that after the first year, financial aid awards are mailed out in June, usually after the Payment Plan enrollment deadline of June 1. So don’t wait for your financial aid letter to set up your Payment Plan. You’ll receive Payment Plan information in early May, along with instructions for setting up an Anticipated Payment Plan which can be modified later. Contact the Business Office for more information.

Attending Summer School? Complete the Summer Financial Aid Form by April 15th.

New students will receive an Outside Scholarship Declaration form via email. Use this to inform the Financial Aid Office of any outside/private scholarships you will receive. If the new information causes a change in your financial aid award (decreased loans, etc.) we’ll make the changes and send you a revised award letter.

New students who participate in the Texas Tomorrow Fund should fax their TTF ID card to our Business Office at (512) 863-5788.

All students planning to participate in the Payment Plan should be enrolled by June 1.

New students who have not declined their loans via the Financial Aid Reply Letter will receive a Loan Instruction email directing them to move forward with the loan process.  If you’re unsure about your loan status or have questions about the process, please contact our office. Use this link if you’re ready to process your loans now.

Continuing Students - watch your SU email account!! If your FAFSA was submitted on time, you will receive either your Award Notification or our request for additional information. Respond promptly to retain priority access to funding.

Verification Deadline: June 15th.

July Billing Statements for all students will be mailed home in mid-July. It’s critical that all online processing (such as Payment Plan registration or loan processing) be completed prior to this date to ensure the accuracy of your statement and proper credit of funds to your student account.
August Get a job! You can now pursue student employment. If you were offered Federal Work Study funds and you’re a first-year student, you’ll be receiving Job Fair information soon.
September Tuition was due in August: make sure you’ve finalized all loan processing to ensure proper credit to your account! If you’re a first-year student and didn’t make it to the Job Fair, stop by the Office of Student Financial Assistance for on-campus job information.
October If you are thinking about dropping a course, you should review the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) guidelines that are detailed in your academic catalog. See your academic advisor for guidance, as well as your financial aid counselor.
November It’s time to pre-register for Spring courses. Your account must be paid in full. Contact us if you’re having trouble.
December 1 Continuing Students: Prepare to complete your FAFSA on the web for next year.
