Financial Aid

Returning Students

Remember, you must apply each year you want to receive financial aid. This means completing a Renewal FAFSA as early as January 1st, and making sure we receive it by March 1st. If you completed your first FAFSA online, much of your information will be entered already. If Southwestern receives your FAFSA data by the priority deadline, March 1st, an award letter (or request for additional information) will be sent to the student by June 30th. You can check your financial aid status at anytime using WebAdvisor. The "My Documents" feature will tell you when your FAFSA was received, and will list any outstanding documentation needed to finalize your aid for the current year.

Summer Aid

All students wishing to apply for financial aid for the summer study sessions including May Term, June Term, Independent Study or Internship are required to complete and submit the Summer Financial Aid Application (pdf). Please make note of the application deadline (listed on application) and follow all required procedures for securing summer study registration and course credit.

If the student will be studying abroad over the summer, they will be required to work with the Office of Intercultural Programs. Students wishing to apply for financial aid are required to complete and submit the Summer Study Abroad Financial Aid Application. Please make note of the application deadline (listed on application) and required procedures.

Lokey Scholarship for Summer Study Abroad

The Lokey scholarship benefits students studying abroad over the summer and is coordinated through the Office of Intercultural Learning. Interested students are required to complete an application. The scholarship is based on need and will be awarded to those students who display the greatest need.
