The Brown Symposium at Southwestern

Get Involved

In addition to attending the symposium events, there are other opportunities to “get involved” with Back to the Foodture.

Brown Symposium Food Drive

As a part of the Brown Symposium, Southwestern University will be running a food drive with all donations going to the Caring Place in Georgetown. Please bring all donations to the Bishops Lounge located at the heart of the Red and Charline McCombs Campus Center.

Pantry items that the Caring Place is always in need of are:

  • cereal
  • boxed dinners
  • peanut butter
  • beans
  • chili
  • cereal bars

In spirit of the theme of this year’s Brown Symposium, we would like to ask that donated items either be organic or GMO free. For more information about products that are verified GMO free go to: nongmoshoppingguide.com

Southwestern students will lead tours to the Southwestern Community Garden, Greenhouse and Composting areas to demonstrate one of the ways we are involved in learning about and sharing local agriculture.
