THEATRE FACILITIES

The Alma Thomas Fine Arts Center

Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones Theater

The program in Theatre has as its objectives: to afford a cultural background in the arts and crafts of the theatre and to develop an understanding of their contribution to our culture; to develop appreciation for creative expression in the process of making theatre; to furnish a functioning theatre for the University and the community; to provide experience for the development of professional competence through studies in theatre history and literature, theatre production, and the arts of oral communication and theatrical interpretation. Theatre facilities include: a 750-seat proscenium theatre, a 325-seat thrust theatre and a 50-seat black box. Students also have access to computer technology for design. Technical facilities includes a costume shop, and scene shop that are located between the two theatres.
