David Polley has taught at Southwestern since 2002. Dr. Polley teaches Applied Organ as well as the classes associated with the Sacred Music Major. In addition to his teaching at Southwestern, he is an active public school teacher and is the Organist at University United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas. Since 1998, Dr. Polley has been the Assistant Musical Director and accompanist of the San Gabriel Chorale, a “town and gown” community chorus sponsored by the Department of Music in the Sarofim School of Fine Arts. "I believe, as Southwestern demonstrates, that performance in the Arts is equivalent to scholarly research in other fields. Therefore, it is important for me to maintain an active performing career while remaining committed to quality studio and classroom teaching. Having recently celebrated forty years as a professional church musician and a teacher for thirty years, I believe that I have a breadth of knowledge and experience to bring to anyone interested in taking the courses that make up the Sacred Music major.” • DMA, University of Nebraska, Lincoln • MM, Northwestern University • BS Ed., Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska • tel 512 863 1504 (fine arts secretary) • fax 512 863 1422 • email polleyd@southwestern.edu |
