Eri
Lee Lam received the Bachelor of Music degree from the University ofHouston,
and the Master of Music and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree
from theUniversity of Minnesota. Her teachers included Fredell Lack,
Sally O’Reilly
and William Dick. In addition, Dr. Lam has completed all levels of Suzuki
Pedagogy under the instruction of Mark Bjork.
An extensive performer, Dr. Lam has garnered many prizes in local and international competitions, including the Pearl Amster Competition in Austin, the Austin Symphony Young Artist Competition, the San Antonio Symphony Young Artist Competition, the Wednesday Morning Music Club Competition (Austin), and the Kingsville International Competition. She has played in numerous chamber music concerts throughout the U.S., including the Round Top Festival, and served as concertmaster in several orchestras. She has been a soloist with the San Antonio Symphony and Austin Civic Orchestra. Last fall, Dr. Lam performed a solo recital and gave a master class at Chosun University in South Korea. Dr. Lam was a teaching assistant to Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota. Her other teaching experience includes the Bravo Music Festival, the St. Joseph’s School of Music in St. Paul, the Santa Fe Suzuki Institute, and the Longhorn Music Camp at the University of Texas at Austin. She served as an adjudicator in the 2004 Pearl Amster Competition sponsored by the Austin Civic Orchestra. Other recent professional activities include a lecture/recital on the De Beriot etudes for violin at the University of Texas in Austin and at the American String Teachers Association convention in Dallas, and a presentation on the vioin and keyboard sonatas of Handel with Kiyoshi Tamagawa at the Texas Music Educators' Association convention. •
