Part-time Instructor of Music
Michael Hengst is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. While completing his undergraduate degree in trumpet performance, Michael appeared as soloist with the UNCG Orchestra. He is also a founding member of the award-winning AA Brass Quintet. More recently, Michael earned his master's degree at the University of Texas, where he is currently a D.M.A. candidate and graduate teaching assistant. He has been a finalist in the Crawford Trumpet Competition, a winner in the UT Concerto Competition, and a finalist in the 2007 and 2005 National Trumpet Competition, earning fourth and third prizes in the Master's division. His teaching experience includes the Longhorn Music Camp at the University of Texas, UNCG Summer Music Camp, and a private studio in the Austin area as well as teaching lessons in the public schools.
