Thad Anderson
presides over the percussion studies program at Southwestern University.
This includes applied percussion lessons, the Southwestern Percussion Group,
and the percussion methods course. He also currently teaches on the University
of Texas at Austin campus where he directs the Texas Drumline and the UT
Steel Pan Ensemble.
Thad maintains a busy performing schedule around the greater-Austin community. He has recently performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra, the world renowned Conspirare chamber choir, at the Victoria Bach Festival, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium. He has also performed as principal percussionist with the Brass Band of Central Florida, as timpanist for the Central Florida Lyric Opera, is an alumnus of the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, and has performed as a cast member at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT. Thad currently plays with the Bravura Percussion Trio, which has given lectures and performances at UT-Austin, TCU, Baylor, UL-Monroe, East-Central Oklahoma, UNT, and the Texas Music Educators Association convention. The ensemble was recently featured as soloist with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra. At the present time, Thad is active in the Percussive Arts Society community where he serves as chair of the Collegiate Committee and as a representative on the Board of Directors. Thad completed his undergraduate work in Music Education at the University of Central Florida where he studied percussion with Professor Jeffrey M.
