Washington DC semester program

Open to juniors and seniors (and well-qualified sophomores), you can study in DC for a semester, with a main focus on an internship.

·    live in attractive apartments on Capitol Hill--a distinct advantage over other D.C. internship programs.
·    intern in both government and non-governmental offices as part of select programs available only in Washington, D.C.
·    learn in challenging seminars and courses that are tailored to enrich their internship experience.

You can still apply for the Fall 2004 semester! For more details, go to our website page

New Summer Abroad Programs

ISEP has added several new options to the list of summer courses offered last year. There are programs in area studies (China, Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Thailand, and the US – New Mexico), and courses in language and culture (France, Germany, Mexico, Chile, and Uruguay).  For more information on these programs, go to www.isep.org/nus/summer.html.

Featured Program: AIFS (American Institute for Foreign Study)

AIFS offers summer, semester, and year-long study opportunities in 13 countries (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Russia, South Africa, and Spain), and 9 different areas of study (Business and Finance, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts and Architecture and Foreign Languages, Humanities, Music, Science, and Social Sciences).    Courses are offered in English, so you don't have to be an expert at the language of the country you chose to study in. Program fees range from $8,995 - $12,995 for a semester, and from $16,490 - $24,490 for a year, and includes housing and meals, tuition registration and exam fees, orientation programs (for specific programs), certain field trips, excursions and cultural activities, transcript, one-way (and in some cases round-trip) airfare, London stopover for non UK - European (as well as Russia and South Africa) locations. AIFS also offers scholarship opportunities to help with these costs.

For more information on AIFS, stop by the Office of Intercultural Learning and check out the AIFS website at www.aifsabroad.com.

The Southwestern University Compass is published by the Office of Intercultural Learning: International and Off-Campus Programs, Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, 78626. Submissions and comments are welcome and should be sent to the Office of Intercultural Learning, Mood 311.
