Dr. Leff's research focuses on Jews in modern France. In 2006, she published Sacred Bonds of Solidarity: The Rise of Jewish Internationalism in Nineteenth-Century France with Stanford University Press. This book looks at changes in Jewish identity and Jewish responses to anti-Semitism around the world, and places those changes in the context of the rise of French republicanism and French colonialism. She is now working on a new book about the fate of Jewish archives in France during and after the Second World War.
