Elizabeth Durden, instructor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology has just had an article published in the "Bulletin of Latin American Research". ĘThe article, entitled "Government and Democracy in Mexico's Federal District, 1997-2001: ĘCardenas, the PRD and the Curate's Egg", is co-authored with Peter M. Ward in the
Department of Sociology and the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the
University of Texas at Austin.
Peter Gottschalk, assistant professor in the Department of Religion
and Philosophy, presented a paper titled "The Raj that Memory Forgot:
Local Forgetting During National Remembering" at the annual South
Asia Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in October.
In mid-November he co-presented a paper titled "Hinduism and Islam in
the Virtual Village" at the American Academy of Religion Conference
in Denver.
Frank Guziec, Dishman Professor of Science in the Chemistry
Department, and Yapin Wang, visiting scientist from Zhejiang
University of Technology, PR China, have published a paper, "A
Convenient Reductive Deamination (Hydrodeamination) of Aromatic
Amines," in the Journal of Organic Chemistry. This research work was
supported by a grant from the Robert A. Welch Foundation.
