Dr. Hobgood-Oster teaches courses in Religion and Ecology, the Christian
Tradition and Indigenous Cultures of North America. Her particular research
interests also include the place of non-human animals in religious
traditions and ecojustice issues.

Dr. Emily Niemeyer teaches Environmental Chemistry within the Environmental Studies program as well as courses in introductory chemistry, analytical chemistry, and instrumental analysis. Her teaching interests include the integration of environmental chemistry case studies in introductory and non-majors chemistry. A portion of her research focuses on developing a molecular-level understanding of "green" solvent systems, including reverse micelles and polymers in supercritical carbon dioxide.

Dr. Johnson teaches courses in ecological anthropology, development studies and the Caribbean and Latin America region. She conducts research on questions of conservation, development and environment history in the small Central American nation of Belize, and has an avid interest in both local and global questions of environmental racism and environmental justice.

Kathryn Stallard works with the university's rare books and manuscript collections. She has graduate degrees in library science and classical languages & literature and has worked with political and social action collections from both ends of the political spectrum. Long interested in environmental issues, she was a volunteer river monitor for five years and is a past chair of the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
