This course is a continuation of Latin I (14-014). During the semester, especially early on, we will do necessary review of grammar and vocabulary, and therefore if you have not used this text before you will be fine. We will continue to combine translation with grammatical analysis and to devote time to cultural, historical, etymological, and linguistic issues. The ability to read Latin allows one not only to delve into the ancient past, but it helps to develop a sharper understanding of English and other languages (especially the Romance languages) and provides a great foundation for English vocabulary building.
