TEACHING AND RESEARCH STATEMENTS
I am a strong believer that students will benefit the most when they are actively involved in learning; and that the teacheršs enthusiasm for the topic sparks their interest and motivation. It has been my experience that students get really excited and engaged when they see the direct correlation between the learned concepts and the every day application. My goal is to equip the students with skills that will be essential in their careers including writing, presentation skills (understanding/organizing/delivery of information) and teamwork to mention a few.
My research interests lie primarily in three areas, reproductive endocrinology, cellular steroid biosynthetic pathways, and hormonal regulation of fuel metabolism. As a scientist I believe in a multi-technique approach. I, therefore, have used tissue culture, radioimmuoassays, steroid receptor binding analysis and the biochemical analysis of steroidogenesis and steroid metabolism to answer the scientific questions at hand.
Courses Taught: Life Processes, Organ Physiology, Endocrinology, Human Biology (non-science course), Comparative Vertebrate Morphology, Introduction to Research.
