175th Anniversary Rephotography Contest

Welcome to #SU175 Rephotography - the contest to re-create some of our memorable photos as accurately as possible.

What is Rephotography?

Rephotography is the act of recreating a photo from the past, sometimes in the same location, attempting to mimic properties from the original photo such as camera angle, weather, activity and clothing. Part of the fun of rephotography comes from seeing both how things have changed, and how they’ve stayed the same. A good example of rephotography can be found here.

Editing software like Photoshop may only be used only for cropping purposes; the spirit of Rephotography comes from physically recreating the photos, not editing them together.

The five best submissions will be chosen by contest officiants based on recreation accuracy and photo quality, and then posted to the Southwestern Rephotography Web page for public voting. Contest winners will be chosen by popular vote. The 1st place photo will be placed in the Schrum Alumni Center alongside the photo it recreates. 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will receive gift cards valued at $100, $75 and $50, respectively.
