Dr. Aaron Prevots joined Southwestern University in fall 2004 as Assistant Professor of French. He teaches language, literature and culture at all levels and enjoys reaching out to the Southwestern community by organizing cultural events such as the Tournées Film Festival and by encouraging study abroad. Dr. Prevots received his AM and PhD in French Studies from Brown University. Related study and travel included an MA in British and American Literature from American University, a Diplôme Supérieur d'Aptitude in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the Université Stendhal - Grenoble 3, a semester at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and École Normale Supérieure and Fulbright exchange fellowships. In addition to his work with Southwestern students, Dr. Prevots devotes time to research on 19th-21st century poetry and culture as well as women's studies, pedagogy, music, life writing and travel writing. Among his recent publications are translations of works by the preeminent French writer Jacques Réda: Return to Calm (Host, 2007) and Thirteen Songs of Dark Love (Editions VVV, 2008). A popular current project is "French through Songs and Singing," a multimedia site initiated with help from an ACS-Mellon grant.
